About this book
Complete Pre-K Curriculum at Home
Pre-K at Home is a gentle 36-week year of preschool-to-kindergarten learning for 4 and 5 year olds, with each week planned for you and about 20 minutes of work a day.
The reading path moves in small steps. For the first thirteen weeks your child learns two letters a week, with their sounds, tracing and letter hunts. Next come simple word families such as -at, -an, -ig, -op, -ug and -en, where children start blending three-letter words. The last part of the year is spent reading little words and sentences, with a short story to read together each week and a handful of first sight words. Week 35 talks about getting ready for kindergarten, and week 36 is a celebration week with a little story to read, a Pre-K math review and a certificate.
Math builds the same way: counting to 5, 10 and then 30, ordering and comparing, flat shapes, patterns, teen numbers, measuring, simple graphs, and adding and taking away within 5. Every week has a theme too, from apples and fall to the Arctic, dinosaurs, butterflies and the beach, with a read-aloud fact page and a draw-and-write page.
You get three printable PDF books of 12 weeks plus a 19-page Parents' Guide (a typical day and week, the year at a glance, scope and sequence, learning objectives, tips, FAQ, progress trackers and a certificate), 603 pages in all, in a Colourful Edition and an ink-saving Black & White Edition, each for US Letter and A4. There is also a 65-page Answer Key with every page that has set answers filled in. In the UK, this is the Reception age group.
