About this book
Complete Kindergarten Curriculum at Home
Kindergarten at Home is a full 36-week kindergarten homeschool curriculum for 5 and 6 year olds, laid out week by week so you can open the book and teach. Plan on about 30 minutes a day.
Phonics follows a clear order. The first four weeks review the alphabet in groups (Aa to Ff, Gg to Ll and so on). Then come word families like -at, -an and -ig, short vowel review, the digraphs sh, ch, th and wh, l-, r- and s-blends, and finally silent e patterns (a_e, i_e, o_e and u_e). Along the way your child meets more than 70 sight words and reads a short decodable story each week, with questions to talk through.
Math runs alongside: counting to 100, teen numbers, tens and ones, adding and subtracting within 10, making 10, shapes, measuring and simple graphs. Each week also has a theme with a read-aloud fact page, such as community helpers, night animals, the Arctic, ponds and frogs or space, plus a draw-and-write page and a review page.
You get three printable PDF books of 12 weeks plus a 19-page Parents' Guide (a typical day and week, the year at a glance, scope and sequence, learning objectives, tips, FAQ, progress trackers and a certificate), 687 pages in all, in a Colourful Edition and an ink-saving Black & White Edition, each for US Letter and A4. There is also a 73-page Answer Key with every page that has set answers filled in. Families in the UK will find the age range matches Year 1.
