Ready, Set, Trace! is a pre-writing book for 3 and 4 year olds. Its 26 pages build the pencil control children need before they start forming letters.
Sixteen path-tracing pages make up most of the book. They move from straight lines across the page to waves, zigzags, bumps and loops, the same strokes that later become letters. Every path starts at a green dot and goes left to right and top to bottom, the direction we read and write.
Next come three mazes that grow a little harder, then four shape-tracing pages for a circle, a square, a triangle and a rectangle. A certificate closes the book.
The how-to page suggests tracing each path with a finger first, then a crayon, and keeping sessions to two or three pages so small hands do not tire. These pre-writing worksheets for preschool come as a black-and-white printable PDF for US Letter or A4.
