About this book

Draw Animals A to Z

Draw Animals A to Z is a directed drawing book for children aged 5 to 9, with one cute animal for every letter of the alphabet.

Each page breaks an animal into simple steps. Your child copies only the new lines in each step, then draws the whole animal in a large space and colors it. The animals run from alligator, bear and cat through iguana, jellyfish, narwhal and quail, all the way to x-ray fish, yak and zebra.

Directed drawing is a good fit for children who say “I can't draw.” Following the steps builds confidence and careful looking, and it also strengthens the same hand control used in handwriting. The how-to page reminds kids that every artist's animal will look a little different, and that is fine.

The book has 29 pages, including a certificate. It is a printable PDF in black-and-white, sized for US Letter or A4, and you will need a pencil, an eraser and crayons or markers.
