About this book
Moon Phases & Eclipse Crafts
Moon Phases & Eclipse Crafts is a short, hands-on space science printable for children aged 5 to 9. It has 7 pages.
The main project is a moon-phase wheel made from two cut-out circles. Your child cuts both out, stacks the window circle on top and pushes a paper fastener through the middle. Turning the wheel shows each phase of the moon, one at a time, through the window. Checking the real moon each night for a month and matching it on the wheel turns the craft into a real observation project.
Two learn-about pages explain eclipses with diagrams to color. One shows a solar eclipse, when the moon passes between the sun and Earth. The other shows a lunar eclipse, when Earth's shadow falls on the moon. The how-to page includes a clear safety reminder never to look straight at the sun, even during an eclipse.
A certificate ends the set. It is a black-and-white printable PDF for US Letter or A4, and you will need scissors, crayons and one brad.
