Little Earth Helpers is a 19-page Earth Day pack for ages 4 to 6, with small, concrete ways children can care for the planet.
The read-aloud fact page covers four habits. Paper, cans and bottles can be made into new things when we recycle them. Using a bag or bottle again and again means less trash. Turning off the tap while brushing teeth saves water. Planting trees gives us clean air and homes for birds and animals.
The activity pages use Earth Day words like recycling bin, reusable bag, water drop, solar panel, wind turbine, compost and light bulb. After tracing those words and snipping apart a set of word cards, your child moves on to counting to 10, a picture addition page and an I-spy hunt. A pattern to finish, a maze, a word search and a shadow match keep the skills mixed. On the Recycle It! page your child cuts out twelve pictures, from a can and a glass jar to a banana peel and a candy wrapper, and glues each one under the recycling, compost or trash bin. Two coloring scenes show children planting a tree and recycling bottles in a sunny park, and a smiling Earth with children holding hands around it. A drawing page and a certificate end the pack.
