All About America is a 20-page starter unit on the United States for children aged 5 to 9, covering the flag, symbols, landmarks and a bit of history.
Two read-aloud fact pages explain the basics. The flag has 50 stars for the 50 states and 13 stripes for the first 13 colonies. The bald eagle is the national bird. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France in 1886, and the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia has a famous crack. Washington, D.C. is the capital, July 4, 1776 is when America declared independence, and people from all over the world have made the country their home.
Your child traces words, cuts out word cards, counts and writes to 10, does an I-spy page, continues a pattern, solves a maze and finds words in a word search. A flag page is ready to color, and a Me on the Map page shows an outline of the United States, with Alaska and Hawaii, where your child stars their home state, writes their state, town and country, and draws their home. Three coloring scenes show a family at a national park, children waving flags in front of the Statue of Liberty, and a family on a road trip with a big bridge. It closes with a What I Learned page and a certificate.
