About this book
Martin Luther King Jr. Day Pack
The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Pack is a 10-page printable for children aged 5 to 9 about Dr. King and his dream of fairness for everyone.
The read-aloud fact page gives the key points in order. He was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He worked peacefully so that all people would be treated fairly, no matter the color of their skin. In 1963 he gave a famous speech about his dream of a fair and kind country. He won the Nobel Peace Prize, and we honor him on the third Monday of January.
A cut-and-paste timeline puts six moments in order: 1929, 1955 (the Montgomery bus boycott), 1963 (the March on Washington and the “I Have a Dream” speech), 1964 (the Nobel Peace Prize), 1968 and 1986, the first national MLK Day. Two draw-and-write pages follow. One asks your child to finish “My dream for the world is…” and the other asks how they can make someone's day better. A page of kindness challenge cards gives six things to try, like including someone in a game or writing a thank-you note. Your child also traces the words peace, help, kind and dream, and colors a picture of children holding hands in a circle around a big heart.
A certificate is included. It is delivered as a printable black-and-white PDF, with pages that fit US Letter and A4.
