The Groundhog Day Pack is a 10-page printable for ages 4 to 7 built around one question: will the groundhog see its shadow?
The read-aloud fact page explains the tradition. Every year on February 2, people watch a groundhog come out of its burrow. Legend says that if it sees its shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter, and if it does not, spring will come early. The most famous groundhog lives in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
Your child makes a prediction on the My Prediction page, circling yes or no and explaining why, then comes back after February 2 to record what happened and whether they were right. A shadow experiment page asks them to go outside, note the time and where the sun is, and measure their own shadow. A graph, a count-and-write page and a maze add some math and problem solving, and the coloring page shows a groundhog popping out of its snowy burrow to look at its shadow.
